Trispecs_3 Empty out your pockets and you are likely to have a Bluetooth headset, a pair of sunglasses along with a wallet and a phone. Now what if three of those four items could be combined together into a single gadget?

Tri-Specs packs dual microphones, speakers and Bluetooth connectivity into a pair of sunglasses with a set of retractable earbuds. To switch between calls and the MP3 player, users have to press the button on the rim of the glasses.

Extending the in-ear speakers turns on the power for the device. It can also do the usual voice dialing and prompts associated with Bluetooth headset. Oakley has had similar Bluetooth and MP3 player sunglasses for a while.

Tri-specs' glasses are yet to be available in retail but are expected to be priced around $200.

BlueAnt at CES introduced its newest Bluetooth headset, the Q1, or what it calls a mix between the existing Z9 and V1. This means users get dual microphones for noise reduction, and the company claims it can cancel out direct 10mph winds. Like the V1, users can control the headset with their voice using the BlueGenie Natural Voice Interface, capable of adjusting volume up and down just by saying "volume up" or "volume down."

The caller ID of incoming calls is spoken to the user, and two phones can be paired up simultaneously, with users being able to answer calls from whatever handset is ringing. The Q1 will automatically pair up with compatible headsets and will reconnect on its own as well. Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is supported, allowing users to listen to music from compatible devices. Maximum talk time is rated at 4 hours, while standby time is fixed at 120 hours.

The headset will be priced at nearly $130 when it is released late in March.

Samsung Mobile always brings home awards at CES, this year was no exception. Among the Bluetooth headsets that won design awards at this year's CES, the Samsung WEP900 was one of the smallest and lightest headsets. It weighs only 9 grams and offers noise cancellation and ability to stream music that's designed to wear behind the ear for a more comfortable and secure fit.

The Samsung WEP900 Bluetooth headset comes with a storing case that stores and charges the headset. The claimed talk time for the Samsung headset is up to 4 hours.

No word yet on the pricing and the specific launch date for the Samsung WEP900.

January 13, 2009 As the smartphone captures and ever greater share of the mobile phone market, it’s clear that people want their phone to become ever more multifunctional. Unify4Life envisages a day when their products will enable a BlackBerry to interact with and control any home or office product a customer desires. The company announced US$40 Garage|Shadow at CES, which allows you to open and close your garage door from your Blackberry or any Bluetooth enabled cell phone. The previously announced US$100 AV|Shadow does the same thing for controlling a set top box, DVD, VCR, TiVo, PVR or home theater.

The application will be available in April for under $40.00 and work with a wide variety of BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Storm, and all Black Berry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8800 series smartphones.

The Garage|Shadow installs just like your existing switch. Simply plug in the two wires from the Garage|Shadow, in the same location as the two wires from your switch. Activating our "automatic open" feature means that your garage door will open as soon as you come into sight of your garage.

When it comes to selecting just the right Bluetooth headset, you have a lot of choices on the market. There are so many styles to consider, so many brands, and numerous features that can separate seemingly identical-looking headsets. That's not really the philosophy of this particular piece, however.

Shown here is the Samsung WEP850 Bluetooth headset, one of the products that won the Design and Innovation Award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The first thing that hit me about this Bluetooth headset was not its advanced noise cancellation technology or anything like that. Instead, it's the somewhat interesting design.

The earloop just doesn't look the same as other headsets. The Crystal earhook really sticks out, especially since it has that extra piece on the hook. What is that anyway? The pearl coated finish also places the Samsung WEP850 a step ahead of the competition.

How's the voice quality? Who cares! This thing looks great!
